Congratulations Oggie! "Pawsitively" our dog of the month for December. When not sleeping under our feet, oblivious to the noise and chaos around him, Oggie's making us laugh with rare and spontaneous bursts of playfulness and quirky little expressions. Although not a fan of walking in a winter wonderland, this fluffy friend is the perfect snuggle buddy for cold December days and his sweet personality always warms our hearts. Oggie is well deserving of the title December’s Dog of the Month.

Nothing cheered up our occasionally dreary November mornings here at Dog Pawsitive like the excited tailchasing arrival of Mlle. Rags. Though we suspect she identifies as a person rather than a dog, she is always game for a good romp in all weather conditions - those little legs can keep up with the best of them! If not trotting happily around the neighbourhood with the even the biggest dog, she can usually be found trying to sit on our laptops or following us about like a fluffy wee shadow. What a gal!

It’s that time again and we here at Toronto’s number one canine loft are thrilled to announce that Turbo is "Pawsitively" Dog of the Month for October! This Lab can be found intrepidly exploring our favourite urban beaches and ravines any day of the week and claims a dignified role in our pack. We know that it is his daily practice of the frog pose and connection with nature, not to mention his raw food diet and noted love of the humble carrot that contribute to the calmness, happiness, and wisdom that so inspire his human and dog friends alike. Even his human friends are happy to make the transition into the cooler months soothed by the Zen of Turbo, unflappable friend to all. Congrats Turbo!

Life as a Dog Walker

That was it. It was time for me to leave the 24 x 7 corporate job. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but the blackberry-obsessed world was something I needed a break from. It was while perusing craiglist, I saw this posting for a “dog walker”. A dog walker! How perfect! I could do this part time, while pursuing my interest in yoga. Yes, I wanted to be a dog walker!
I was not prepared for what I was about to step into. Here are some highlights from my 9- month career moonlighting as a dog walker:
- Experiencing the amazing world of a pack. Watching the soldiers explain how “day care” works to the new dogs, while the alphas sit back and watch. OK, stare at the newbies letting them know without words who the boss it.
- Watching an older sibling protect her younger, more sassy sister when she feels her younger sibling being bullied by an outsider.
-Feeling my belly light up with excitement knowing I was about to consume my “morning coffee” AKA Norquay (Golden Retriever)
- Realising that no matter how horrible it is outside, majority of the dogs love being outside regardless. If they can take it without a toque, than so can I (with the toque)
- Enjoying the winter weather at an isolated Cherry Beach with siblings Layla and Liam (poodles), without nobody but us and a Toronto Star photographer.
- Knowing that no matter how crappy my hair looks that day, my clients don’t care. All they care about is being with you.
- Discovering that that smell of dog poop is no big deal. Just another smell really.
- Hearing Ruby (Jack Russell) squeal with excitement from down the hall knowing I was coming.
- Working for someone who is 100% genuine and passionate about her businesses.
- Crying for the very first time leaving my job knowing I would miss my friends (human and dog)
After 9 months, it was time for me to go back to the grind. I am now back in the corporate arena and missing my dog walking days every single minute. At least I have a picture of my best friend Ruby on my desk to remind of where my most loyal friends are.

Queen of the Canine Loft, Bunny, is "pawsitively" August's dog of the month! Our pocket-size Princess is the perfect combination of sugar, spice and everything nice. Respected by all, and feared by one (Sally), Bunny runs a tight ship to ensure a smooth ride. She is also an excellent leg warmer during the cold months of Winter. Congratulations Bunny!

Our resident "drill sergeant", Ruby, is "pawsitively" July's Dog of the Month. This hard core, ball sniffer-outer is the ultimate companion if you want to work-out your pitching arm. We are thrilled to announce that Hogarth is "Pawsitively" June's dog of the month! Hogarth is considered our Wednesday treat and one of the most laid back dogs at Dogpawsitive. He loves to chillax alongside Burgess, Logan and Oggie, but will jump at the chance for a beach run any day.
